Last week nearly destroyed me. Work was bleeding me dry, I hadn’t had time to eat properly, exercise or have any form of a social life and on Sunday I finally got a day off. I wanted brunch, shopping and a lazy day catching up with friends.
Chris and I headed up to Ealing for brunch at Maggie’s. We’d had a weekday dinner there before and loved it so thought we would try their iconic breakfasts.
We started with coffee and juice.
Their menu is good. Not too much so that you suspect everything is out of a packet then chucked in the microwave but enough choice to suit everyone.
Chris went for The Supertramp (pancakes, sausages, bacon, fried egg, tomato, mushrooms & syrup). It was a MONSTER!!
The pancakes were quite heavy so there was no chance of him finishing it all. This is a breakfast to top all breakfasts.
I really liked the idea of eggs in a pan so I ordered them with chorizo & red peppers (I was tempted to go spinach & mushroom w/ applewood), but there was one crucial thing wrong. The egg yolks were solid. I imagined fried potatos with crispy chorizo with perfectly runny egg yolks, what greeted me was a pretty dry breakfast that I had to smother in ketchup. Not cool.
I would thoroughly recommend Maggie’s for dinner. They have 2-4-1 burger nights and 2-4-1 cocktails Thursday – Saturday (THE BEST DAYS). They have a great range of burgers and their pornstar martini’s are to die for*.
* I think… that night is a bit hazy.
